ABOUT US
At Asian Food Republic our aim is to bring customers Asian inspired food with a modern twist that can be prepared and enjoyed at home. Our artisan products are all handmade here in Wellington and the product range is constantly growing and evolving. We began Asian Food Republic after being inspired by successful products in our restaurants and wanted people to be able to experience the same quality of packaged food at home.
To retain the original flavours and integrity of our food we extensively test and carefully package our lovingly made products to ensure people can enjoy “cuisine without compromise” at home. From designing our environmentally friendly packaging to folding each dumpling and dipping each fortune cookie, we’re completely hands-on in each process from start to finish. We believe you can taste the quality in a product that’s been handmade by humans that care. We pride ourselves in using high quality ingredients in our products and where possible we will always choose to use local produce.
Our packaging design is as important to us as our product inside. We use a sustainable New Zealand based company for our packaging with 100% recycled paper for the outers, re-usable glass jars and environmentally friendly bamboo trays. We are constantly developing new and exciting packaging ideas with the introduction of our successful ‘make your own kits’ this year, we are looking forward to expanding the range.
ORIENT: HOMEWARE + GIFTS
Our full product range is available at our sister company Orient, based in Wellington, which sells beautiful handmade ceramics imported directly from a variety of kilns in Japan, along with a range of unique homewares and gifts.
DRAGONFLY RESTAURANT BAR & COURTYARD
Our ever-popular restaurant Dragonfly in Wellington was the inspiration for our AFR products as we wanted to bring the same restaurant quality for you to enjoy at home. Dragonfly is sophisticated, relaxed, and chic. Knowledgeable wait staff, trained in all aspects of the menu, encourage diners to share dishes and order for the table rather than the individual. The menu was inspired by all of our favourite Asian eating experiences incorporating classic dishes with a modern twist.
